Introducing our latest travel partnership with Expedia.ca

We’re excited to be Spring Break Spokespeople for Expedia.ca!

It was an easy decision when Expedia.ca approached us to work on a campaign to help families travel, safer, cheaper and easier for the upcoming spring break.

When the people at Expedia.ca first contacted us we liked they wanted to work with travel bloggers – but when they selected us to be their family travel spokesperson for the spring break season, we were excited about the opportunity to partner with one of the biggest names in travel.

Over the past year and a half, we have learned a lot about travelling with an infant. It’s not always glamorous or easy, but we love taking Baby B to new places and watching him grow and explore.

Based on the survey produced by Expedia.ca, we were able to find out the top worries that families have when travelling with kids.

Surprisingly, the top cause of parental stress was keeping their young ones occupied while in transit. Other top worries included remembering to pack everything, the availability of child-friendly activities while on vacation, being prepared for unforeseen delays, and choosing a kid-appropriate destination.

Based on the information gathered, we put together a list of 10 tips to help parents alleviate any stresses associated with planning and taking a family vacation.

Part of the spokesperson role was providing quotes for media and if available, attending media appearances. It was a little difficult having both of us attend because of Baby B, so Nicole opted to be the main spokesperson.

Neither of us have ever been on live television, so when Expedia.ca secured an appearance on CTV News at noon (a popular newscast in Vancouver BC), it was exciting to have the opportunity to go on live television.

I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous. Mainly because I didn’t know the exact questions that were going to be asked and I didn’t want to make any mistakes.

The whole experience was very interesting. The thing I noticed most was how loud everything was in the newsroom. Even when on air, everyone kept talking and cell phones kept ringing, yet none of it was heard on the newscast. Right before I went on, the weather man did his forecast in front of the green screen and I could see the camera with the audience views.

It was a completely different picture in the newsroom vs what’s seen at home.

My slot was only four minutes and it went super fast! In total, I was asked about four questions about the travel tips and top destinations for spring break travel. It was a fun experience and I had a great time learning how the daily news is filmed and produced.

We’d love to be able to share the interview with you but the producers at CTV News won’t allow us to embed the video on our website or social media networks.

We’ve used Expedia.ca many times to book flights, hotels and vacation packages. And, although we are mainly working with Expedia.ca for spring break family travel, we do have some fun stuff coming up with them later this year and early 2014. We are in the early stages of planning our next adventure with Baby B by selecting a family vacation with Expedia.ca, so stay tuned.

It’s been fun working with Expedia.ca as their spring break spokesperson. They have been great to work with and we are looking forward to the upcoming travels that we experience with them.
